Wichita neighbourhoods we work in

A garage door job in a 1920s bungalow district is a different job from one in a 1990s subdivision, and the difference is rarely the door. It is build era, framing, opening size and access. These pages say what to expect in each part of the city.

College Hill

Platted from 1910 and largely built out by the mid-1930s, College Hill is brick bungalows, Tudors and Foursquares on tree-lined streets east of downtown.

Riverside

One of the oldest parts of the city, built between roughly 1900 and 1940 along the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers.

Delano

Historic district immediately west of the river, with housing stock largely from the 1890s through the 1930s and a lot of recent infill.

Eastborough

A separately incorporated enclave inside Wichita, built mostly between the 1920s and 1950s as an estate neighbourhood.

Crown Heights

Late 1940s and 1950s development north-east of College Hill, built during the post-war Boeing expansion.

Sleepy Hollow

1950s and 1960s ranch housing on curving streets in east Wichita.

Indian Hills

Late 1950s through 1960s subdivision in north-east Wichita.

Planeview

Built rapidly in 1942 and 1943 as workforce housing for the wartime aircraft plants, and unlike anywhere else in the city.

Benjamin Hills

1950s development in north-west Wichita.

Tallgrass

1980s and 1990s subdivision development in east Wichita.

Willowbend

1990s golf-course community in east Wichita.

West Douglas

Older west-side corridor with housing largely from the 1920s through the 1950s.

Northeast Heights

Post-war residential expansion north-east of the city core.

Orchard Breeze

Small mid-century neighbourhood in south-west Wichita.
